Why you should wash your linen and bedding more frequently

Each week we spend on average 49 - 60+ hours in our beds, sleeping. That’s a lot of time to get the rest our bodies need to thrive, but it’s also a lot of time for dirt, sweat, oil, and more to build up in our sheets and bedding.

With that being said, the question on everyone’s minds is - how often should you wash your sheets?

Generally, most people should wash their sheets and pillowcases once a week. If you have pets, and particularly if you let them sleep in your bed, a wash every 3-4 days is recommended. If you experience allergies or asthma, it may be worth it to try cleaning your bedding more frequently to see if your symptoms improve.

It’s also recommended to wash sheets more often in the warm summer months, as you will likely get more sweat on your bedding. Likewise, if you have seasonal allergies in the spring or summer, washing sheets more often may help relieve symptoms. Comforters and blankets can go a bit longer, with a wash once every 2-3 months. Duvet covers require a bit more frequency, with once every 2 weeks to a month.
